PRISON CATS 101
The Program
The prison cat program at Avenal State Prison provides a unique sanctuary for feline residents while offering massive rehabilitative benefits for the handler community. Cats that would otherwise be considered unadoptable find a safe space to flourish.
Impact & Hope
Through daily care and social interaction, these cats develop a deep bond with their human companions. This relationship fosters empathy, responsibility, and an enduring sense of purpose, creating a ripple of hope through the facilities.

Every blood donation has a name, a face, and a future behind it. In our Life Saved Stories, you’ll meet patients whose lives were changed by generous donors, including children fighting cancer, children recovering from heart surgery, and accident survivors given a second chance. These are the real stories of hope made possible by a single donation. Behind every life saved is someone who rolled up their sleeve. Our Donor Stories celebrate the everyday heroes who give blood to help neighbors they may never meet. Discover what inspires them, why they return, and how one simple act creates a powerful ripple of impact.
